Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu has hinted that the club will look to strengthen the squad in the upcoming transfer window as they seek to overcome inconsistency in the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Medeama on Sunday, extending their winless run to three matches. Despite the late comeback, Owusu admitted ongoing injury concerns and performance gaps have made the campaign challenging.
"There’s a lot of injuries and the [transfer] window is going to be opened very soon, so we can put in some other people," he said after the match. "I’m not disappointed with the boys. The only game that hurt me was the one we lost at Basake. In the rest, they put in a very good performance."
The Porcupine Warriors were beaten midweek by Basake Holy Stars, a game Owusu believes was affected by pitch conditions, revealing that winger Joseph Ablorh had to be withdrawn before kickoff due to concerns over the artificial surface.
"We withdrew Joseph Ablorh right on the pitch after the warm-up; we had to take him out to save him. We are going through hell, but we will survive," he added.
Kotoko have shown glimpses of strong play, but inconsistency has left them two points off the top spot.
Kotoko travel to face Hohoe United next, aiming to return to winning form and gain momentum heading into the festive fixtures.
