Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson says he is “satisfied” with his team’s performance despite surrendering the WAFU B U20 Girls Cup title to Nigeria in Benin.
Ghana lost both encounters against the Falconets during the tournament, while winning their two games against hosts Benin. The defeats against Nigeria saw the Black Princesses concede six goals while scoring just once, though they managed four goals across their victories over Benin.
Speaking after the final match, Sampson reflected on the tournament:
“I'm very, very satisfied with many things, but our lack of concentration to concede a goal like this, of course, is a hard one to take in. But the purpose of coming here is also to see certain things about us that we need to develop and also to see how we handle different situations,” he said.
He added: “With that said, I'm very, very happy that we're able to experience this while we have something great ahead of us, which we are looking forward to.”
Ghana had won the inaugural edition of the tournament, staged in Kumasi two years ago, defeating Nigeria in the final, but were unable to defend the crown this time around.
