Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is expected to join the Black Stars camp in Nagoya, Japan, on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s international friendly against the Samurai Blue.
Asare, who was in goal during Sunday’s Super Clash against Asante Kotoko, will link up with his international teammates at the Ana Crowne Plaza Hotel, where 18 players are currently in camp. His arrival will raise the number of goalkeepers in the squad to three, joining Joseph Anang and Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
The experienced shot-stopper has been rewarded with another opportunity to impress under coach Otto Addo after his consistent performances for Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
Sixteen players arrived in camp on Tuesday to join home-based duo Kelvin Nkrumah and Prince Owusu, who departed Accra on Sunday. The group includes Derrick Kohn, Jerome Opoku, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah, Abu Francis, Kwasi Sibo, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Antoine Semenyo, and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Also expected to arrive on Wednesday are Christopher Bonsu Baah, Prince Osei Owusu, and Mohammed Salisu.
The Black Stars will hold their first training session in Nagoya on Wednesday, November 12, as they step up preparations for the Kirin Cup clash against Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025.
