Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has hailed Brian Brobbey after the forward’s impressive display in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal over the weekend.
The Dutch-born striker, who has Ghanaian roots, netted a spectacular acrobatic goal to secure a point for the Black Cats in a thrilling contest.
Le Bris expressed satisfaction with Brobbey’s progress since joining the club, noting that the 23-year-old is gradually adapting to the demands of English football.
“We felt that Brian had improved a lot,” the Sunderland boss said.
“He needed time to change from another club, a new league, a new country and new teammates. He has worked hard and deserved this reward.”
Le Bris also highlighted the importance of squad depth and tactical flexibility, praising his substitutes for maintaining energy and structure against a strong Arsenal side.
“This league is really demanding, but our game model is also demanding,” he explained.
“Our players don’t just stay wide and wait for passes; they must work hard for the team, or you can’t defend against a strong side like Arsenal.”
Brobbey’s performance offered a glimpse of his growing confidence and understanding of Sunderland’s system.
His ability to combine physicality with sharp finishing has quickly made him a key figure in Le Bris’s attacking plans.
The Sunderland coach further compared Brobbey’s style to that of fellow striker Wilson Isidor, stressing the tactical options both players provide.
“When you start the game with Wilson up front, he’s a threat in behind and can hold the ball up. With Brian, you have a totally different profile, but he is a good goalscorer as well.”
