Cheik Toure, an 18-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper, has been found dead in Ghana, according to the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of Senegal.
The teen shot-stopper was reportedly kidnapped by armed extortionist, who made him believe he was going for a trial.
However, his captors later demanded ransom from his family in return for his freedom.
After his family failed to meet the demands of the kidnappers, Toure was killed with his lifeless body found in Ghana.
The Ghanaian Police in collaboration with Senegalese authorities have opened a joint investigation into the murder of the teen sensation.
In a statement released, a spokesperson from The Ministry, expressed its "deep compassion to the grieving family" while also indicating that the issue has been taken the "greatest attention and priority”.
The Ministry also advised young Senegalese footballers to be cautious about people who lure them into believing they would get them lucrative deals abroad.
“Exercise extra caution in the face of unverified offers of tests or transfers abroad. Always go through official circuits and obtain information from the sports authorities before any trip," it continued.
Meanwhile, the lifeless body of Toure is reportedly currently in the process of being repatriated to Senegal.
