Days after parting ways with head coach Frimpong Manso following their 2-0 defeat to JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg tie at the Accra Sports Stadium, Bibiani Goldstars have offered clarity on the decision.
The announcement, made on Sunday, came as a major shake-up for the club just a week before their crucial return fixture in Algeria on September 28, 2025.
Confirming the development in an interview with Connect 97.1 FM, the club’s Public Relations Officer, Samuel Kwagyire, revealed that Manso’s vision no longer aligned with the long-term business strategy of Goldstars.
“From management’s point of view, they felt Coach Frimpong Manso has paid his dues very well and they had to say goodbye to him. After analysing many things and looking into the future, the business plan of the team doesn’t coincide with that of Frimpong Manso. For that reason, management believes if the club is operating with a laid-down plan and that of the coach doesn’t fit, then there is a contradiction. So a different person whose plan aligns with the club’s vision had to come in,” Kwagyire explained.
In the meantime, assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah has been placed in charge as the Miners prepare for their daunting trip to Tizi Ouzou. Goldstars face a tough challenge, needing to overturn a two-goal deficit to advance to the next stage of the competition.
