Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has expressed gratitude to former GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi for his support following his successful election to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.
In an interview with Sporty FM, Okraku acknowledged Nyantakyis backing and reflected on the responsibility ahead.
I'm very grateful to Kwesi Nyantakyi for his support, for his message two days ago, and it only tells me that I have big shoes to fill, Okraku said.
Its my singular commitment to work my way in that perspective and ensure that I serve Africa and Ghana to the best of my ability.
Okraku was elected unopposed to serve a four-year term on the CAF Executive Committee from 2025 to 2029. His election marks a significant milestone in his leadership journey, having worked to revive Ghanaian football since assuming office in 2019. His tenure has seen efforts to enhance transparency, promote grassroots and womens football, and prioritize youth development.
His new role at CAF is expected to strengthen Ghanas influence in African football governance and contribute to the overall development of the game on the continent.
Okraku becomes the sixth Ghanaian to serve on the CAF Executive Committee, following in the footsteps of Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi.
