Real Valladolid have closed the transfer talks on want-away Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.
The Spanish side does not want to get the centre-back distracted amid circling reports regarding his future.
The club has issued a fiat banning official from talking about the long-term future of the 20-year-old.
The club's sporting director Miguel Ángel Gómez says the Spanish side has learnt its lessons from the Calero debacle few years ago and want to protect the defender.
"We have to learn from mistakes. With Calero we made a mistake that was always talking about Calero and his transfer, and he himself admitted that it affected his performance," Real Valladoid sports director Miguel Ángel Gómez acknowledged.
"As for what may happen in the near future with Salisu, it is clear: We want him to continue and we are happy with him, the club is not going to talk about Salisu anymore, we want him to focus and protect him.
" There is a very close relationship fluid with his agents and with the kid, the club is no longer going to generate more pressure around him."
The Ghanaian has been linked with a move way from the Estadio José Zorrilla with English giants Manchester United believed to be interested.
United's scouts have extensively reported on the Ghanaian since he broke into Valladolid's first team in 2018 and are hoping to complete a deal with a £10million release clause tempting the Old Trafford hierarchy.
