Ghanaian youngster Joseph Painstil could not make the shortlist for the Africa Youth Player of the year award.
The KRC Genk forward has been outstanding for his club this season but was ignored by the technical department of the Confederation of African Football in charge of the nominations.
Painstil, after an impressive campaign with Finish side Ferencvarosi joined Genk in the summer and has already bagged two goals in 11 appearance in the Belgium pro league.
Last night, the 20 year old scored his debut Europa League goal as Genk held Swedish giants Malmoe FF.
He has made seven appearances in the Europa League this season. Painstil has gradually won his way to the first team of the Belgian club and plays an integral role in the team.
Meanwhile, the players nominated for the Africa Youth Player awards are Achraf Hakimi (Morocco & Borussia Dortmunmd), Wilfred Ndidi (Nigeria & Leicester City) and Andre Onana (Cameroon & Ajax).
The others are Ismaila Sarr (Senegal & Rennes), Mahmoud Benhalib (Morocco & Raja Club Athletic) and Franck Kessie (Cote d’Ivoire & AC Milan).
The awards gala will be held in Senegal's capital Dakar, on 8 January 2019.
