Communications Director of Football Kenya Federation Barry Otienno believes the absence of star midfielder Victor Wanyama from the upcoming 2019 AFCON clash against Ghana is a big blow to the Harambee Stars.
The Tottenham Hotspurs midfield dynamo was among the 38 players called up for the crucial 2019 AFCON qualifier but did not turn up.
The 27-year-old recently recovered from injury and sat on the bench of the English side in their league match over the weekend.
Despite the player returning to fitness, he has excluded himself from Sunday's crucial match against the four-time Africa champions.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Otieno says the Black Stars will go into the game as overwhelming favourites following the absence of Kenya's star midfielder.
"Our preparations is in top gear ,the players are currently in camp ,we are near full house unfortunately our captain Victor Wanyama will not be in this match I think a blow for Kenya but a plus for Ghana," he told Oyerepa FM.
"Notwithstanding that Kenyans are ready."
