Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom says he rejoined Red Star Belgrade not because Champions League football but the special bond he has with the fans.
The 25-year-old is making a return to the Serbian giants six months after leaving them to pen a lucrative contract with Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Sunning.
Boakye is revered by the club after banging in 39 goals during his first stint at the club including their campaign in the Europa League.
''Thank God, for without him there would not be Boakye,'' the 25-year-old said.
''I am grateful to everyone who enabled me today to be with Red Star Belgrade and everyone who helped in the qualification [Champions League].
''I am happy that my teammates managed to reach the group phase. I was happy reading with the two goals scored at Salzburg [Red Bull].
''However, I did not come because we qualified, but to enjoy football. I would like to play the Champions League. The fans love me and they are one of the reasons why I'm back in Belgrade.''
