Italian serie A side Empoli have confirmed Ghana midfielder Afriyie has left the squad for International assignment.
The midfielder who joined the club in the summer transfer window on a season long loan will travel to Ethiopia where he joins the rest of his Ghana teammates for the AFCON qualifier against Kenya.
Ghana will play the Harambee stars of Kenya on Sunday in the second group E game for the Cameroon 2019.
The team's media outlet posted," Afriyie Acquah will play with the Ghana the challenge against Kenya valid for the Africa Cup qualifiers 2019 scheduled for Saturday 8 September at 16.00 at the Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi."
Acquah joins six other Empoli teammates for international football.
Levan Mchedlidze, Rade Krunic, Frederic Veseli, Miha Zaj, Arnel Jakupovic, Samuel Mraz and Jacob Rasmussen are other players to leave for national team football.
The Ghana international has been ever present for Empoli since joining from Torino and saw 88 minutes of action in their draw against Chievo last Sunday.
