FIFA U17 World Cup: Ghanaian fans bash captain Eric Ayiah over poor performance in USA defeat

Ghana Under-17 captain Eric Ayiah has come under intense criticism from pundits and fans alike, following his poor display against USA on Monday.

The youngster seems to have become a scapegoat for local fans after he failed to inspire the team in their 1-0 defeat to the young Yankees at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi.

Ayiah, who plays for Ghanaian lower side Charity Stars, was a pale shadow of himself with a substandard performance which appears to have infuriated local fans.

The talisman lacked the killer instinct and appeared too slow for an attacker coupled with his needless stylish play.

Local fans have descended heavily on the forward on social media, criticizing his poor display against the young Yankees.

The Black Starlets must now beat host India in their final group game to stand any chance of qualifying to the next stage of the tournament.
