Wa (UWR), Dec 26, GNA - The Reverend Dr Timothy Seidu, the Head Pastor of the Faith Fundamental Baptist Church, has advised the youth to assume responsibility and contribute their quota to nation building.
He said the youth had responsibilities such as ensuring good sanitation, ensuring security, paying taxes as well as holding national leaders accountable among others in preparedness for leadership roles.
Rev. Dr Seidu gave the advice in a sermon in Wa on Christmas day, said the failure of every society and nation was as a result of the irresponsibility of the people adding, "if we perform our responsibilities well we will not fail".
He said God created Adam and Eve, put them in the Garden of Eden and provided all their needs but that they failed to fulfil their responsibilities of not to eat the forbidden fruit as God commanded them.
"The disobedience of mankind separated us from God, but for the love of God for us He allowed His Son Jesus Christ to come and die for our sins and drew us closer to God," Rev. Dr Seidu said.
He quoted John 3:16 in the Holy Bible which says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life".
He advised the youth to emulate the love and sacrifice of God for their personal, societal and national development.
"Christians should also share the gospel and show love to all people as God loved the world," he added.
He said selfishness and greed on the part of the government and national leaders could impede the development of the nation.
Rev. Dr Seidu advised the youth to celebrate the Christmas festivities in moderation by avoiding excessive alcohol intake, overspending and accidents, which always characterised festivities.
