Tema, Dec. 26, GNA - The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Redemption Congregation at Tema Community Nine on Christmas Day honoured its children service and Junior Youth (JY) teachers.
The teachers were given gifts from the church leadership to appreciate their contributions to the spiritual life of the children.
Reverend Kwadwo Osei-Bonsu, Minister-in-charge, commended the teachers for their devotion to the service of God.
"These teachers are doing a great job as they help our children to be grounded in the faith and we need to appreciate their effort not only with prayers but also with material gifts, "he stated.
He urged parents to support and augment the work of the teachers as he acknowledged that most of the time, parents just send their wards to the children service without knowing what goes into it.
Reverend Frank Kissi, Second Minister, delivering the Christmas' sermon on the theme, "Shalom", encouraged Christians to value and promote peace in all their encounters.
Rev Kissi said Jesus Christ was identified in Isaiah 9:6 as the "Prince of Peace" an accolade and quality, he said Christians must exhibit in their encounters with others at home, work, church and wherever they found themselves.
The church service was part of activities to mark this year's yuletide which also included the honouring of the aged in the church and a get together on boxing day.
Members of the Young People's Guide (YPG) would fete residents of Nyitawuta in the Akatsi North District in the Volta Region and donate clothing as well as equip some the local girls with sewing machines to start a vocation.
