Accra, Dec. 20, GNA - Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed, former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso-North Constituency has admonished traditional leaders to uphold the sanctity of the chieftaincy institutions, which was meant to foster peace and unity.
He noted that the chieftaincy institution was a scared traditional and national asset that must be protected to hold the unity of the country as promotion of national values, norms, customs and traditions to build national cohesion.
Alhaji Ahmed stated at Ashaiman during the coronation and swearing-in of Alhaji Osman Bansi as the chief of the Bissa tribe, which was aimed towards promoting peace and unity.
The coronation rite was performed by a team of chiefs led by Imaam Hassan Osman, Bissa chief of Accra; Chief Ibrahim Mahmoud Bansi, the Tema Bissa Chief; and Malam Adams an Imaam from Tema.
Alhaji Ahmed who was the special guest acknowledged valued tradition of the people of Bissa and lauded their hard works in terms of farming.
He stated that, he was proud to associate himself with the people of Bissas as he was indebted to them because of their humility, togetherness and their ability to help one another.
He urged the Bissa youth to give Alhaji Osman Bansi, the new enskinned chief support and financial contributions in order to make his work in office sufficient.
He urged Alhai Osman Bansi to put in place a group of people to launch an educational fund to support children of Bissa in order to assist the children with free educational support.
He said most parents found it difficult to cater for their wards and believed it would reduce the burden of parents and improve stability of education within the communities.
He added that, the groups should as well be responsible for helping the needy and every widow in the Bissa youth in order to lessen hardship within the Bissa youth.
Chief Alhaji Bansi promised to lead a crusade towards transforming Bissas and called for support from the elders and leadership of the youth groups, “I need every one’s support so that together we build our communities”.
