Accra, Dec. 20, GNA - President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Friday inaugurated the Governing Board of the National Film Authority, urging it to work to put the Ghanaian film industry on the continental and global maps.
With the main goal of developing and regulating the nation's film industry, the Board, chaired by veteran actor, David Dontoh, has its members including the Chief Executive of the Authority, Madam Juliet Asante, Madam Yaa Attafua, Madam Josephine Ohene Osei, Mrs Dora Darkwa- Mensah, Dr Samuel Anyetei Nai, and Mr Samuel Fiscian.
The others are Zakaria Abdulai, Koffi Nartey, Madam Akorfa Ejeani, Kofi Owusu, Mrs Rukiyata Ankrah, Samuel Gyandoh and Ernest Boateng.
At a short ceremony at the Jubilee House to inaugurate the Board, President Akufo-Addo congratulated the members and implored them to help build an economically self-sustaining and culturally functional film industry.
He entreated them to leverage their vast experiences to market the Ghanaian film industry to make it as successful as those of other countries.
President Akufo-Addo pledged Government’s commitment to supporting to the Authority to lift the fortunes of the film and creative arts sector in Ghana.
He urged stakeholders to support the Board to create the enabling environment for the growth of the industry.
Mr Dontoh, on his part, commended the President for the honour done him and the members as part of government’s commitment to uplifting the fortunes of the industry.
He pledged to work had with his team to ensure the growth and viability of the sector.
