Nkawie, (Ash), Dec. 19, GNA – Two friends who broke into a mobile phone shop and took away several pieces of mobile phones have been sentenced to five years imprisonment each in hard labour by the Nkawie circuit court.
Shadrach Boateng, trader and Nathaniel Gyamfi, farmer, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing, and were convicted on their own plea by the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey.
Detective Inspector Anthony Acheampong told the court that on November 24, this year, the two broke into the shop at Nyinahin and took away 21 pieces of assorted mobile phones and other items.
He said a complaint was made to the Nyinahin police who arrested the convicts on suspicion.
Inspector Acheampong said during a search in their room, the police retrieved 20 mobile phones and GH¢7,000.00 cash in a bag in their room.
They admitted the offence and they were charged and brought before the court.
