Mamponteng (Ash), Dec. 17, GNA – Ms. Francisca Oteng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kwabre East Constituency, has urged voters to go out in their numbers and cast their votes in the on-going District Level Elections.
This was when she cast her vote at the Auntie Ceci’s polling centre ‘A’, at Mamponteng, the Kwabre East District capital.
Her call comes on the back of the apparent voter apathy at most of the centres in the district.
At the Auntie Ceci polling centre ‘A’ and ‘B’, 54 out of the 1,067 registered voters, 54 had cast their ballots by 10:20 am.
The Ahwiaa Anyinam ‘A’ and ‘B’ and the Owonta polling centres, with a total registered voters of 1,436, had seen only 57 people voted at 10:21 a.m.
The situation was not different at most of the centres toured by the GNA team in the Kumasi Metropolis, as turn out by 10:15 am at the Ohwimase Upper Primary ‘B’ in the Kwadaso North, totaled 58 out of the 978 registered voters.
At the Parkoso Junction Centre in the Aperade Electoral Area, 47 people had cast their ballots by 10:30 a.m. whiles the Aperade M/A Primary Schools centres ‘A’ and ‘B’, had registered 130 votes out of the 1,555 total registered voters.
Thirty-six people (36) out of 667 registered voters had cast their ballots at the Maakro Presbyterian Church polling centre in the Suame Electoral Area, by 10:45 a.m.
Mr. Benjamin Appiah Kubi, the Presiding Officer, at the Methodist Church, Centre ‘A’ at Maakro, told the team that 34 voters had cast their votes out of the 581 expected.
He, however, was upbeat that most of the voters, would show up before the close of polls to vote but decried that attitude which usually stampeded the electoral staff and the security.
Voting at all these centres started at 7 a.m. as scheduled.
There had not been any incidences so far.
