Nkawkaw (E/R), Dec. 11, GNA - The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has supplied 220 mono desks to three schools in the Municipality to promote effective teaching and learning.
The schools were the Kwahu Nsabaa M/A, Nkawkaw Akuamoah Acheampong Junior High School, and Esaase Methodist Basic School.
At the handing over event, Mr Yaw Owusu Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive, said education remained the bedrock for growing the national economy and that every effort should be made to give it the needed attention.
He said it was the Government's priority to promote quality education by providing relevant teaching and learning materials to schools nationwide adding that the donation formed part of such interventions.
He described education as a tool that could be used to champion community-based developments and urged stakeholders such as the Assembly, clergy, traditional authorities, parents and teachers to motivate the children to stay in school.
Mr Addo said: “Our homes, churches, schools and communities are agents of change and should be used to encourage pupils to take their education seriously.”
He urged the youth to identify themselves as the driving force for national development and emulate the examples of responsible adults in their communities.
Madam Angela Amofa Akadom, the Deputy Director in Charge of Monitoring and Supervision, received the desks on behalf of the schools and gave the assurance that it would be put to good use.
