Obuasi (Ash), Dec. 10, GNA – Most Reverend John Yaw Afoakwah, Bishop of the Obuasi Catholic Diocese, has called on the youth to avoid indulging in immoral acts in the Christmas season.
They should rather use the occasion to show greater love and care for the needy in their communities so as to receive the blessings of God, he said.
Most Reverend Afoakwah gave the advice at a Nine Lessons and Carol service organized by the Association of Catholic Heads of Higher Institutions for pupils and students of Catholic mission schools at Obuasi and its environs.
He said there is the need for the youth to learn to be humble as the child Jesus Christ, when he came into this earth.
Most Reverend Afoakwa said the Christmas feastivity should be used to announce the kindness and love of God to the world and not just for merry-making.
Mrs Leticia Obeng, Obuasi East Municipal Director of Education, urged the students to desist from all social vices associated with the merry-making period of the celebration.
She called on students to cultivate the habit of discipline since that is the only way to help them to achieve their purpose of schooling and commended the Association for organizing the programme.
