Ho, Dec. 05, GNA - The First Sky Group, an agglomerate of various companies, Thursday inaugurated the Ho branch of Serene Insurance Company Limited under the Group.
The Ho office is the first, outside Greater Accra since the Company was licensed to underwrite general insurance business.
Mr Eric Seddy Kutortse, Founder and Chairman of First Sky Group at the inauguration said Serene Insurance was Incorporated "out of genuine desire to see a paradigm shift" in how insurance business was being done in the country.
He said Serene Insurance would present a "new face of insurance not only by redefining public perception through prompt payment of legitimate claims, but by introducing a service culture that places the client at the heart of everything we do."
Mr Kutortse said Volta Region was home to a fast growing economy with increasing economic and human activities in Ho, Kpando, Hohoe and Aflao among others with a growing motor hub and hinted of reaching those markets.
"Serene Insurance is therefore here to help bridge the gap that exists between the widespread need for insurance services as against the extreme concentration of such services in Accra," he said and again hinted of opening other regional branches in Kumasi, Takoradi and Koforidua.
Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, who officially inaugurated the Ho branch, commended First Sky Group for the foresight and called on the Ghana Insurers Association to extend insurance education to the countryside.
"...Indeed, insurance services are vital to the extent that as long as we continue to live, we must take risk. But to take risk without cover, is to throw caution to the wind, so we need more education on insurance in the districts and regions," he said.
Dr. Letsa said despite the importance of insurance, its penetration remained "worrying low" and charged the Association to 'wake up' and reach all.
He said the market was ready and that all the Association needed was innovation and creativity to reach clients in the formal and informal sectors.
The Regional Minister said the local economy was fast expanding courtesy Government's prudent policies and urged individuals and institutions to invest in insurance policies against 'bad days'.
Mr Chris Boadi-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer, Serene Insurance, said the Company had tailor-made products for all, with focus on drivers, commercial motor riders, traders, farmers and fishers.
