Accra, Dec. 5, GNA - Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited has held a workshop for unemployed Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) as part of a week-long activity to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which occurred on December 3.
Standard Chartered Bank Ghana as part of the commemoration, hosted 35 PWDs and engaged them on ways of building their employment skills, career planning and mapping skills among others at its Head Office in Accra.
Ms Asiedua Addae, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, the programme forms part of the bank's community engagement dubbed, “futuremakers”.
''Staff volunteers who include persons living with disability have transferred skills to these 35 participants and hopefully it would guide them in their future endeavours,'' she said.
Abdulai Yussif, a participant and a graduate from the University of Cape Coast, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, lauded the initiative by StanChart saying it would inspire him as he aspires to reach greater heights.
''It has taught me ways of addressing various challenges in life; ways I can get a job; and also ways of starting my own business with little resources at my disposal,'' he said.
Standard Chartered Bank recently at Ghana Disability Excellence Awards, grabbed the Excellence in Employment Opportunity Award- having helped to improve the quality of lives of PWDs in the country.
