Accra, Dec. 4, GNA - As part of efforts to better the lives of its customers through corporate social responsibility, the MTN Ghana Foundation has launched the ‘Brighten Your Community’ campaign which aims at developing communities through customers.
The campaign is solely a social media campaign and would be in three categories; education, health and economic empowerment.
The Foundation deemed it fit to plug into the ‘2019 Year of the Customer’ declared by the company to initiate the project to provide customers with the opportunity to select projects of their choice through the company’s major social media platforms.
Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, the Acting Corporate Services Executive, MTN Ghana Foundation who launched the campaign, said the initiative is a national campaign inviting all customers to participate and make an impact in their community.
She said the Foundation has allocated a total of GH¢750,000.00 to fund the three topmost projects with each been financed with GH¢250,000.00.
Mrs Asare Fiagbenu said the Foundation has contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the country through its social interventions with over 147 projects covering education, health and economic empowerment.
She commended the customers and partners for their contribution to the success and growth of the company’s business and assured them of continuous efforts to put smiles on their faces.
Mr Wisdom Nunya Kwashie, the Digital Marketing Manager, MTN Foundation, said the first step for participation would be to vote for a region where the project should implemented and secondly, vote for the project category by navigating the web address: www.brightenAcommunity.com.
He said said it would be in three phases consisting of an online poll which would commence on December 2, with each phase lasting for 5 days, adding that voting could be done through the online poll via the web address.
‘The final three projects will be highlighted on MTN social media pages and the social media audience would determine the amount of funds to allot to each project not exceeding GH¢ 250,000.00’, Mr Kwashie said.
He said for every like, comment and share a project received, GH¢10.00 would be allotted adding that if the project receives ten thousand accumulated likes, comments and shares the GH¢10.00 would be multiplied by the ten thousand to fund the project within the said range.
