Sitekese (E/R), Dec.04, GNA - The Obomengmankuo in collaboration with Sitekese traditional authorities and the Kwahu West Education Unit has organised an educational durbar at Sitekese in the Kwahu West Municipality to create awareness on the importance of education to the development of the community.
Speaking at the durbar, Nana Siaw Ampadu, the Chairman of Obomengmankuo said it was the wish of Nana Effah Opinamang III, the Chief of Obomeng to ensure that every child within the community obtains some basic education by introducing educational activities for their benefit.
He said Nana Opinamang III in collaboration with the traditional authorities had instituted free evening classes for children between the ages of 6- 10 years to improve on performances in schools in the community.
He said scholarships have also been granted to some selected students at the Anson Senior High School established by the chief of Obomeng in Accra, to aid brilliant but needy students.
Mr.Ampadu said the Obomengmankuo with support from Obomeng traditional leaders had also introduced award for harworking and dedicated teachers in the community to serve as motivation in their endeavours.
He urged parents and teachers to help support the vision of the association to promote quality education in the area.
Madam Angela Amofa Akadom, the Municipal Deputy Director of Education, advised students to take their studies serious and to desist from immoral activities that could destroy their future.
She urged parents to frequently visit and check on their wards behaviour and performances in schools.
Nana Sarfo Abankwa II, the Odikro of Sitekese, expressed gratitude to Obomenghene, the association and the Education Committee for such an opportunity.
