Kugnani (N/R) Nov 19, GNA – Eleven communities in the Saboba District of the Northern Region have been connected to the national grid to help improve their living conditions.
The communities include; Kugnani, Bilobibiib, Buegmal, Chachabuni, Najakpol, Kinabuik,and Nabruku.
The rest are; Liwalbu, Kunjuli, Bungen and Tingbaln.
The Saboba District Assembly has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lifetime Wells Ghana, to drill 30 boreholes for needy communities in the area.
The project, when completed, would enhance access to potable water to rural communities and also reduce the outbreak of water related diseases in the district.
A six-unit girls’ model classroom block with ancillary facilities was also constructed at Saboba to ensure improved access to education.
Mr George Kitingyaab Bingrini, District Chief Executive of Saboba announced this when he conducted journalists round the communities where the projects were located in the district.
Mr Bingrini announced that 60 students from the district were given scholarships to pursue various programmes at tertiary institutions in the country.
He said based on their own requests, the Assembly distributed nine deep freezers, and seven sewing machines to persons living with disabilities, (PWDs), while 40 students received cash to settle their fees, two with hospital bills, 50 were supported to venture into petty trading and 17 who are into farming received cash.
