Accra, July 20, GNA - The Reverend Professor Kwamena Sagoe, Associate Professor, Department of Medical Microbiology, University of Ghana, has called on Christians to aspire for excellence in all their endeavours.
He said:" God is interested in our total well-being so we should let perfection and the love of God cut across everything we do as Christians."
Rev Sagoe, who is also a Pastor at the St Augustine Anglican Church, Dansoman, was speaking at the media launch of this year's National Campus Congress 2019 being organised by the Deeper Life Campus Fellowship.
This year's Congress will be held at the National Headquarters of Deeper Life Bible Church at Brofoyedru, Kumasi in the Ashanti region from July 31 to August 4, 2019.
The Congress, dubbed "Excelsior 2019" is on the theme: "Equipping intellectuals to reach the utmost height".
The campus congress is an annual event, which aimed at reaching out to university communities to transform lives through preaching of the word of God.
Rev Sagoe said aspiring to the possible height one can reach, does not mean neglecting God's presence and urged Christian to continue to seek His presence always for directions of their path.
"You are not where you are by chance, God put you there for a purpose but as Christians we have a role to play - the best inheritance a Christian must give his children is the fear of God," he said.
He urged parents to always seek God's intervention to prepare their children to reach the height that He purposed then to reach in life.
Pastor Edward K. Dodoo, the General Overseer of Deeper Life Ministry- Ghana, said the campus congress was one of their commands from God to preach to the whole world.
He said students are vessels that God can use to transform society but if those vessels are corrupted by evil, then God's will can never be fulfilled.
He said the number of students being churned out every year, called for an urgent need to catch those young ones to give their lives to God and to preserve themselves as vessels of transformation.
He called on the media to join the fight against social moral decadence, especially in the country' higher learning institutes.
Pastor Francis Fosu, the National Campus Coordinator, said many souls were transformed during the 2018 campus congress and expressed gratitude to all those who helped in diverse ways for its success.
He said over 5000 people participated in the event and expressed the hope that this year's event would receive tremendous support.
Pastor Fosu said immoral behaviours on the various campuses is destroying many lives and called on other religious bodies to also join the crusade to save lives.
He said occultism is gaining notoriety on some campuses and this is an issue we should all be concerned about as the solution to all these prevailing immoralities is to give one's life to God.
