Kumasi, June 18, GNA - The Men’s Society of Kumasi Archdiocese of the Catholic Church, has renovated the lying-in ward of the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi to provide comfort and ensure the privacy of mothers and their babies.
The renovation which cost GH? 8,000.00, involved the partitioning of the ward into cubicles, fixing of broken louvers and the provision of 15 plastic chairs for mothers and visitors to the ward.
Dr. Thomas Agyarko-Poku, the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, receiving the items on behalf of the facility, expressed gratitude to the society, saying, nursing mothers and their babies’ privacy was crucial to quality health care delivery.
He appealed to other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the hospital to help address some of the numerous challenges facing the facility.
Dr Agyarko-Poku said the facility which was established about 70 years ago, needed enough space to expand facilities to provide quality health care delivery to the over 800 patients who visited the facility each day.
Mr Clement Kwarteng, President of the Society, said they would continue to provide for the needy and would give hope to deprived ones in the society.
He said the Society had in the past years provided medical equipment, donated blood and other logistics to health facilities including KATH.
