Dawu-Sanfo, May 21, GNA - A three-unit classroom block with a headmaster’s office, teachers common room, a four-unit KVIP and a urinal has been inaugurated at Dawu-Sanfo, a farming community in the Okere district.
Funded from the district assembly common fund, the school block ends the practice of JHS students learning under trees for lack of space.
At a short ceremony to inaugurate the facility, Mr Dan Botwe, MP for Okere and Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development, urged opinion leaders and parents to be interested in matters concerning education.
He said education was the basis for development and therefore all stakeholders must show keen interest and appealed to parents to allow their wards in JHS to go for evening classes arranged for them to help improve their results in the BECE.
Mr Botwe commended the Okere District Chief Executive (DCE) Daniel Kenneth, for the swift response to eliminate schools under trees in the district within the short existence of the assembly.
The DCE said as part of a strategy to improve education at the basic level in Okere, the MPs campaign for Teachers Community in villages was on course and announced that teachers quarters was being constructed at Amahi to provide decent accommodation for teachers.
