Accra, May 15, GNA - There is the need for facility managers to improve upon their standards and also maintain them.
This is because effective facility management is crucial to the wellbeing of the local and global economy.
Mr. Sampson Opare Agyemang, President of the Greater Accra Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), said this in Accra on Wednesday, at the celebration of the World Facility Management Day, 2019.
The event was under the theme, “Celebrating Global International Organisation for Standardization.”
He observed that facility management required a detailed and multi-disciplinary approach saying, “We extend a hand to the other built environment professional institutions in Ghana.”
Mr. Agyemang called for collaboration amongst built environment professional institutions in the country, “in order to make built environments in Ghana a better place to live and work.”
He said the IFMA would continue to ensure that the right standards for facility management in Ghana are well adhered to, and also persist in education on “the need to change the stereotypes of negative maintenance culture.”
Mr. Collins Osayamwen, Director, IFMA, Board of Directors at the International Facility Management Association, said there was the need for facility managers to adjust themselves to modern ways of practicing their profession.
He said this was because improved ways of facility management was at the core of ensuring safer and more productive environments.
The World Facility Management Day is celebrated every year by Global Facility Management, to recognise the vital work that facilities management professionals and the facilities management industry, contribute to business worldwide.
