Accra, Feb. 20 GNA - Professor Peter Twumasi, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has applauded the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) for winning more laurels for Ghana and staying off litigation.
Professor Twumasi, who made this known in Accra before the election of new executives for GBFA said, he had been overwhelmed by the success chalked by the leadership of the GBFA for working hard to sustain the association that had won many medals for Ghana.
“I must commend this association for the number of awards you have won for Ghana. The current leadership have done so well devoid of litigation.
“We need such measures and leadership qualities to help grow our sporting fraternity and to nurture the budding young talents, where we can provide them the ligation free platform to thrive”.
The new NSA Director called on the GBFA to make changes to some clauses when they go to congress to improve upon its works to attract corporate Ghana’s attention and to provide a vast platform for corporate advertising locally and internationally.
“Congress has the power to keep and polish up clauses, so I would urge your associations to get a standing committee of arbitration to handle litigation without going to court, which hinders development and drives corporate sponsorships away.
“Corporate sponsorship provides a vast platform for sports development locally and internationally in terms of advertising, where both parties would benefit.
Professor Twumasi asked the GBFA to have more local competitions and programs, to attract international events rather than focusing on international events without local events and programs.
”Local competitions should be properly organized to attract international assignment, just develop the local sports and the international ones would come knocking.
“Local activities should not be weakened, NSA is ever ready to lend a helping hand to any federation that is prepared to see to local assignments and events” he said.
