Sagnarigu (N/R), Feb. 6, GNA – Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Ghana has donated 140 pieces of science sets to the Bagabaga Demonstration Junior High School ‘B’ (JHS) at Sagnarigu in the Northern Region to help promote practical science education.
The science sets, manufactured by Dext Technology Limited, an indigenous firm, contain a set of tools including resistors, capacitors and sound buzzers, that give hands-on practical learning of science to ensure better understanding of the subject.
The science sets will aid in the teaching and learning of light energy, basic electronics, electric energy and electromagnetism.
Mr Kwasi Osei Hyeaman, MTN Northern Sector Area Sales Manager, who presented the items to authorities of Bagabaga Demonstration JHS ‘B’ at Sagnarigu on Tuesday, said it formed part of MTN Ghana’s efforts at supporting practical science education in the country.
Mr Hyeaman said MTN believed that engaging children in practical science education would help them develop interest in the subject to learn to become medical practitioners, engineers and innovators to help transform society.
He urged that teachers of the school should be trained on how to use the science sets to benefit the pupils.
Madam Asueme Mary Magdalene, Headmistress of Bagabaga Demonstration JHS ‘B’, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the gesture, assuring that the science sets would be used for the intended purpose for the benefit of all.
Madam Asueme appealed to MTN Ghana to complete a stalled classroom block of the school to enhance teaching and learning.
Mr Mawuli Amedofu, Supply Chain Manager of Dext Technology Limited said the science sets had revolutionized practical science education in the country helping pupils to develop electrical equipment and appealed to government to adopt the science sets for all pupils to enable all students to acquire it.
