Samanhyia (E/R), Dec. 13, GNA - Mr George Ofori, the Kwahu Afram Plains South District Chief Executive (DCE) has called on farmers in the area to practice commercial farming to help create employment and economic growth.
He said it is important for farming to be considered as a business venture and not an activity to feed households.
Speaking at the 34th National Farmers Day celebration at Samanhyia, Mr Ofori said with the introduction of the coupon system for farmers in the district, farmers can now have access to fertilizers at a subsidized price to enable them produce on a large scale.
Mr Moses Bamfo, the District Agriculture Director, urged farmers to invest in mechanization to make their work much easier and produce on a large scale for a higher income.
