Speaking at the launch of the schools 40th anniversary celebration in Accra, he said, many private senior high schools have invested in infrastructure fit-for-purpose that would supplement governments efforts at addressing the bottlenecks associated with the double-track system.
Mr Nartey said government, through the Ministry of Education, should undertake an inspection of private senior high schools, to establish their capability to absorb some of the students currently on the double-track system.
Those institutions that meet the criteria, he said, should be co-opted by the education ministry onto the schools placement system and given the same financial considerations as their counterparts in the public school to enhance the effective implementation of the policy.
We would not be asking for too much if we ask government to spend the same amount it expends on each student in the public school to the private schools that have the facility and capacity to accommodate the teeming numbers who enter the senior high school as a result of the flagship Free SHS.
Recounting the achievements of the Cosmos School since its establishment in 1979, the CEO said the school has contributed to the human resource development of the country by producing intellectuals and professionals who have excelled in various fields in the Ghanaian society and abroad.
He said through the schools core values of godliness, discipline and excellence, it has blazed the trail in the pursuit of academic excellence and freedoms, civil rights and humanitarianism.
The 40th anniversary which is to be celebrated under the theme: Building Godly Character and Shaping Lives: The Cosmos Experience, will highlight in the next seven months the schools achievements and a number of activities to commemorate the event.
As part of activities to commemorate the anniversary, the school would organize a float in January, 2019, a sports festival in February; a homecoming and funfair event - March; a visit to an orphanage - April.
