Winneba (C/R), Nov. 6, GNA - Eleven persons on board of a Sprinter Bus with registration Number AW 402-13 sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident near the Apostle Kojo Safo Junction on Tuesday morning at about 9.50 am
The accident happened a few meters away from the accident spot, which occurred last Sunday at Gomoa Mpota near Winneba Junction.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the scene, Station Officer One, Mr. Alex Quanioo of the Winneba Directorate of the Ghana Fire Service, said at about 1000 hours they received information that a sprinter bus was involved in an accident around Gomoa Mpota.
He said on arrival at scene, the driver Yaw Yeboah and ten other people on board the bus had been taken out of the vehicle by some inhabitants of Gomoa Mpota. The victims were rushed to the Trauma and Specialists Hospital at Winneba.
The scene was littered with bags of oranges and other personal stuff.
Mr Quanioo said information the service men gathered from the accident site indicated that the vehicle was from New Edubiasie heading towards Kasoa.
“When they reached a section of the road, some meters after Apostle Safo Junction, the tyre off side got burst as a result the vehicle somersaulted causing the accident.”
Later when the Ghana News Agency accompanied the Fire and the Police officers to the Hospital, it gathered that five of the passengers who sustained minor injuries had been treated waiting to be discharge, while driver Yaboah, Isaac Adu aged 20, Faustian Osie 42, Salome Buafo 52 and Gladys Mensah 63, were still receiving treatment.
