Accra, Nov. 06, GNA - The Department of Medicine of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital at Ridge in Accra, Tuesday, received some computers and accessories towards its Library Project.
The equipment, which were donated by Mr Isaac Osei Wusu, an Accra-based Businessman and a philanthropist, comprised a projector, three desktop computers, and one laptop computer.
The Library would aid in the training of residents in Internal Medicine, while assisting the professionals to constantly update their knowledge.
During a short presentation ceremony at the Hospital, Dr Cecilia Kootin-Sanwu and Dr Henrietta Fiscian, both Senior Specialists at the Department, together with Ms Mavis Apetu, Deputy Director of Nursing, of the Hospital and Mr Simon Badek Medical Administrator, received the equipment, and expressed their thankfulness to Mr and Mrs Osei Wusu for the gesture.
Dr Kootin-Sanwu told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview after the presentation that the Department’s Library Project was very important to the physicians at the Hospital and so more support in the area of textbooks in Internal Medicine and other journals were needed to beef up their stock.
She, therefore, appealed to proprietors of book shops and other well-meaning corporate citizens and individuals both home and abroad to support them.
Dr Fiscian for her part, said the Library also required sponsorship to be able to subscribe to journals on Internal Medicine for practitioners to update themselves on the developments in the field and appealed for the payment of the subscription fees.
