Ho, Oct. 22, GNA – Workers of China Railway No. 5 Engineering Ghana Limited Monday resumed work on the Sokode-Ho dual carriage project.
The10.5 kilometre project, which started around October 2016 stalled in May last year, due to accumulated debt, making the stretch unmotorable with agitations from youth groups and some chiefs in Ho.
Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister who visited the site with journalists said the resumption of work followed the intervention of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and agreements reached between government and the company.
“This work is of major concern to us all. It is not a good spectacle. We all face many inconveniencies, so we thank God they are back to work,” he stated.
Dr. Letsa assured of government’s commitment to the completion of all road projects, including the Eastern corridor and said the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Kwesi Amoako Atta, would tour the project area and address issues concerning roads in the Region.
The project, estimated at GHC98 million is expected to manage traffic in Ho and give a face-lift to the Regional capital.
Meanwhile, a second dual carriage, known as the Ho bypass is also suffering break in work schedule due to “funding issues,” the Regional Minister told GNA.
