Beijing, China, Oct 12, GNA – Journalists in developing nations, particularly in Africa have been urged to do more to assist strengthen relations between their countries and China.
Mr. Liu Yan'an, Assistant to the President of Beijing International Chinese College, said the media had critical role to play in the building of stronger and mutually beneficial bilateral ties.
He was speaking at the opening of the 2018 seminar on “Chinese Language and Culture” for press officials of developing countries.
The 21-day programme is being organized by the Beijing International Chinese College (BICC) and sponsored by the China Ministry of Commerce.
It aims at building bridges of friendship and cooperation between the Asian economic giant and other developing nations.
The programme had brought together 26 participants from across 10 countries.
Mr. Liu said language should not be a barrier to the pursuit of friendship, adding that, deepening the understanding of the media of the language and culture of Chinese people would enable them to provide the necessary support to nourish the friendship.
The BICC was going to continue to offer support in the areas of training and exposure to help make stronger bilateral relations.
