Cape Coast, Oct.03, GNA - Regardless of the blazing sun rays, scores of people from all walks of life on Thursday morning massed up on the streets, to catch a glimpse of the American First Lady Melania Trump.
Several others also gathered at the forecourt of the Cape Coast Castle where she was scheduled to visit.
Amidst heavy security, the people waited in anxiety as traders cashed in while others who had travelled to visit the facility complained about their inability to access the Castle.
After hours of waiting, the US First Lady arrived in a convoy accompanied by the Central Regional Minister, Mr Kwamena Duncan among others.
However, the hopes of the people dashed as she was rushed into the castle only to return after half an hour to wave from afar at the milled crowed that had waited behind the Atta Mills Presidential library opposite the Castle.
"Finally, I have seen the American First Lady here in Cape Coast. Now, I can brag that I know her," says Mr Kofi Bonney, a Fisherman, as he walked away with beams of smiles.
Mr Duncan, after the tour, described her visit as symbolic and historic to give a strong boost to the tourism potential of the Region across the world.
It also signified a strong bond between the government of Ghana and the United States of America for mutual benefits.
Earlier, the First Lady and entourage paid a courtesy call on Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area.
The Omanhen applauded the American First Lady for her initiative dubbed "Be Best" which sought to seek the welfare of children and mothers and pledged the commitments of the Oguaa Traditional Council to it.
Meanwhile Mrs Trump leaves Ghana today Thursday October 4, 2018
