Accra, Oct. 3, GNA - The Confédération of Africain Football (CAF), has signed a five-year partnership agreement with Africa's player welfare body, FIFPro.
The agreement, signed after a seven-year "Memorandum of Understanding" between CAF and FIFPro Africa, would see them engage in various activities in the interest of promoting African football until 31 December 2023.
“Our cooperation with the FIFPro Africa Division has grown steadily in recent months,"CAF President Ahmad Ahmad explained.
He added; "tt has become obvious, even necessary for us, to draw from it. The outlines, to define the objectives in order to set up a common action plan, validated by each of the parties, where each of us will bring its stone to the building, to ensure respect to the commitments for a partnership that we want and that can only be win-win".
President Ahmad Ahmmad also reiterated his desire to work closely with the player body and their representatives accross the continent.
"We know it, we appreciate it and we know we have a common interest. Their vision of continental football is close to ours and the interests that FIFPro defends are that of the players interest.
“I am proud of this agreement and look forward to seeing our respective teams get to work,” said Ahmad.
Former Cameroonian and Chelsea player, Geremi Njitap who is the President of FIFPro Africa Division, expressed his delight over the agreement as they remain poised in improving the welfare of players across the continent.
“This agreement would encourage them to continue on the same path and this recognition would also strengthen their position at the national level.
“The players are part of football on the continent and intend to be for the CAF partners, giving meaning to the term: loyal and effective. Because it is already for us, at our level, to make this agreement, to allow them to enter his active phase as quickly as possible," said Njitap.
