Adako-Jachie (Ash), Oct. 03, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko S/C’s newly-appointed head coach, Charles. K. Akunnor, was on Wednesday, October 3, officially introduced to players of the club at their Adako-Jachie training grounds in the Ejisu Municipality.
The German-trained technical handler, a former skipper of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, agreed to a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors last Monday and is expected to bring the club back to winning ways.
Two-time African champions, Kotoko, had since 1983 failed to win any continental diadem and coach Akunnor’s appointment, is part of the moves by the management to chart a new path for the club.
Mr. George Amoako, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who introduced the new coach to his charges, called on all and sundry to be supportive of the new technical team.
Subsequently, the head coach got right down to business as he led his first training session, together with assistant coach, Akakpo Patron.
The team was made to play eleven-aside after some physical and fitness exercises.
Some enthusiastic senior players of Kotoko senior players, including Amos Frimpong and in-form goalie, Felix Annan, in an interview with the GNA Sports, pledged the playing body’s commitment to the vision of the new technical handlers.
Coach Akunnor, has in his career had stints with some notable Ghanaian clubs such as Accra Hearts of Oak S/C and Obuasi Ashgold S/C.
