Hohoe, Sept. 17, GNA - Togbe Keh XII, Chief of Gbi-Wegbe has asked the youth to seek the knowledge of culture and traditions during festivals, and not consider the occasion as only for merry making.
He said it was unfortunate that young people involved themselves in promiscuous acts during festivals, whereas such occasions were meant to regularize homecomings, and promote a sense of belonging among the people.
Togbe Keh, who was speaking at the launch of Gbidukorza 2018 in Hohoe, on the theme "Consolidating two decades of Gbidukor unity for accelerated development," appealed to the indigenes to regularly and voluntarily contribute their quota towards the development of Gbi.
He said lack of commitment to development initiatives had affected the growth of the community and called for a change in attitude.
Mr. Kingsley Freelove Amu, Co-Chairman, Gbidukor National Steering Committee, charged members to endeavour to make the celebration a success.
The GNA gathered that, town hall meetings would be held in Hohoe and Peki to help mobilize support for the festival.
Gbidukorza is a reunification festival of the people of Hohoe and Peki to mark the end of over 300 years of separation by migration.
The festival is rotated annually between the two communities.
