Accra, Sept. 10, GNA - The U-17 national team of Ghana, Black Starlets, would engage "Les Elephants" of Ivory Coast in the semi-finals of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B tournament at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.
The Black Starlets in their quest to qualify for the Africa U-17 Championship in Tanzania would have to win the remaining two matches in the competition to stand the chance of representing Ghana.
Road to semis; despite their goalless draw game against hosts, Niger, the Black Starlets bounced back strongly to defeat their the Togolese counterparts 2-1, after Christian Agyenim and Simon Appiah scored a goal each, to make sure that, the Black Stars surpass the group stage hurdle.
Ahead of the daunting task ahead, Black Starlets coach Karim Zito in pre-match conference, remains fearless of whichever opposition in the semis as his young lads are poised for the clash.
"We welcome every country, we have no fears and we are here to play.These are young boys who have never tasted the tournament before and in every first day of every person there is a history, which is the panic stage of the competition and we are through with that and we are now warming up into the competition," he said.
He added, "Now we have seen it all, so our mode of approach has also changed, because you have to be aware of the situation you find yourself, take decisions and take the mode of approach".
Ghana would be looking to make their seventh appearances at the African competition, as they are among one the most successful national teams at the under 17 level.
The other group match, would see Nigeria's Golden Eaglets lock horns with hosts Niger in the other semi-final clash.
The match, would start at 16:00 GMT at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey on Wednesday.
