Baakoniaba, (B/A), Sept. 10, GNA – Residents of Baakoniaba, a fast growing neighborhood in the Sunyani Municipality, at the weekend, appealed for a health facility in the area to improve on their health status.
According to Mr. Nicholas Saddari, the Assemblyman, the Electoral Area had about six communities and one of the biggest in the Municipality, but still lagged behind in development.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Assemblyman said the area required urgent health facility due to its rapid population growth.
He said the water situation in the area was bad because settlements such as; Nanketewa and Kwanware had no access to potable drinking water and residents of the farming communities depended on streams and rivers for drinking water and for other domestic activities.
Mr Saddari also regretted the poor lighting system in the area, which was contributing to increasing the rate of armed robbery and stealing and appealed to the Police to intensify night patrols in the communities.
The Assemblyman said he had made persistent appeals to the Sunyani Municipal Assembly for support, but to no avail, and appealed to philanthropists, civil society and Non-Governmental Organisations and corporate bodies to assist in the development of the Electoral area.
