Enyan Abaasa (C/R) Sept. 5, GNA - Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X Omanhen of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area has called on stakeholders in the grooming of children to support them to unearth their talents towards National building in the future.
He said the Youth are the future of the country and investing in their development was a paramount legacy that would help them to be patriotic citizens.
Osagyefo Akonu X made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after the Traditional Council met their 2018 AKwambo Planning Committee at the Palace in Enyan Abaasa in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District in the Central Region to know how far they had gone with arrangements.
He called on celebrants to exercise the maximum comportment while making merry so as not to mar the beauty of the festival.
The festival would commenced with ban on Drumming and Noise making from the 24th August 2018 and would be climaxed on September 8, 2018 with a grand durbar on the theme “The role of a leader in development”
The celebration would also be the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Osagyefo Akonu X.
The Paramount Chief said education was the bedrock of every society and commended the government for the introduction of the Free Senior High (SHS) Programme and appealed to parents in the area to discharge their parental obligations especially encouraging their children to concentrate on their education.
He thanked the people for rallying behind him to steer the affairs of the community and urged his sub chiefs, heads of families and the Asafo groups to continue to support him to lead and manage the affairs of the community.
He called on all sons and daughters of Abaasaman to participate fully in the festival and also contribute towards the completion of an Ultra-modern Traditional Council Building which was under construction.
He urged the people to return home to register whenever population census was re-opened as the sharing of the national cake was based on population.
Later Nana Otsiwa Mbonako Chief of Obireuku, of the 2018 festival planning committee said they were ancestral Fantes that migrated from the old Ghana Empire through Techiman to Obireuku and finally moved to settle at Abaasa.
Among other programmes, there will be a Mini fund raising, free health screening and a colourful durbar to raise funds and a non-denomination thanksgiving service.
