Accra, Aug. 28, GNA — This year’s Ghana Ladies Open Golf Championship, would tee-off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday, September 2.
The event, would end on Monday, September 3, with over 120 golfers from Ghana and other African countries affiliated to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, the World’s golf governing body, are expected to participate.
Mrs Esther Amedzro, President of the Ghana Ladies Golf Union (GLGU), disclosed this to the GNA Sports in an interview on Tuesday.
She said, the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition, would be played under the auspices of the union and the Ghana Golf Association (GGA).
Mrs Amedzro said, the competition which was in its eighth year, has been divided into Division "A", which has Handicap 13-20 as entry qualification while Division "B" is pegged at handicap 21-26 as the entry qualification.
She said, there would also be Seniors event pegged at age 65 and above, which would be played over 18 Holes.
Mrs. Amedzro said Tullow Oil Plc, Cal Ban k Limited, AEL Mining and Everpure Water with support from Her Royal Highness Lady Julia Osei Tutu and Asanteman Council, would be the sponsors for the event.
Golfers expected to be seen in action would include Clara Price, Ama Morgan, Agnes Adams, Peace Akwei, Alberta Lomofio Boadu, Beatricwe Bempong, and Philomena Sedo.
Three prizes would be awarded in both Divisions as well as consolation prizes for "Nearest to the Pin’’.
