Accra, Aug. 28, GNA - The Government of Ghana (GoG), has officially informed the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) of processes to withdraw the dissolution suit against the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The GoG, over the past few weeks, reached a resolution with FIFA to discontinue the dissolution of the GFA, to avoid a ban from the former.
A letter addressed to Madam Fatma Samoura, General Secretary of FIFA, by Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Dame reads; "I refer to the mutual understanding reached and signed by the President of the FIFA, Mr Gianni Infantino and the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ghana, Mr. Isaac Asiamah at the meeting on 16th August, 2018, held in Zurich, Switzerland, between representatives of Government of Ghana and FIFA.
"In demonstration of our good faith and commitment towards a realisation of decisions reached at the meeting of 16th August, 2018, the Attorney-General has filed an application for the discontinuation of the petition to wind up the GFA.
"This constitutes a notification to the High Court of Ghana of the government's decision to discontinue/withdraw the petition for the liquidation of the GFA," the letter read.
The letter also entreated FIFA to fasten the process of instituting a normalisation committee to replace the GFA Executive committee as they look to return football to normalcy.
"In line with the mutual understanding duly executed by FIFA and Ghana, I would greatly appreciate if the foregoing is brought to the attention of the Bureau of the council for the GFA executive Committee to be immediately replaced with the Normalisation Committee," the letter stated.
In related development, an Accra High Court on Tuesday ordered the Registrar of Companies to stop the dissolution of the GFA and return all assets belonging to the GFA after the Attorney General filled for a withdrawal of the suit.
