Senchi (Ash), Aug. 20, GNA – Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo, the District Chief Executive for Sekyere East, has called for effective collaboration between community members and educational authorities to promote quality education in their communities.
She said parents, chiefs, school management committees and other stakeholders had a duty to work closely with teachers and education officers to ensure that pupils received quality education at all times.
Madam Marfo made the call at the inauguration of a classroom block for the Senchi Methodist Primary School built by Mr Kwabena Frimpong, a native of the town, based in Toronto, Canada.
The six-unit block has a library, computer laboratory, store room, staff room, an office for the head teacher, as well as toilet facilities for pupils and teachers.
Madam Marfo commended the philanthropist for the gesture and said it would go a long way to promote quality education in the community.
Mr Justice Settor, the Public Relations Officer of the District Directorate of Education, stressed the need to put emphasis on kindergarten and primary education.
He said improvement in infrastructure, supply of teaching and learning materials as well as posting professional teachers to the communities would help build a solid foundation at the kindergarten and primary levels.
Mr Frimpong, who had his basic education at the School, said the gesture was to give back to his alma mater, which helped to mould him in his formative years.
Nana Owusu Asare, the Akyeamehene of the Asokore Traditional Area, who represented the Omanhene, commended Mr Frimpong for his dedication to the development of the area.
