Dumasua(B/A), Aug. 20, GNA – The Sunyani West Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the weekend raised 30,000 Ghana cedis during a fund raising rally in support of an ultra-modern office complex.
The Constituency needs GH¢500,000.00 to complete the project, comprising conference halls, offices and recreational facilities, which is yet to commence.
Party faithful, members and supporters pledged roofing sheets and bags of cement among other building materials to support the project.
The project was initiated by the 28-member newly elected executive of the Constituency, chaired by Mr Johnson Nketiah.
Members of the executive have already acquired a four-acre land at Odomase, the Constituency capital, and raised GH¢10,000.00 seed money through individual contributions for the project to commence.
Addressing the well-attended rally held at Dumasua in the Sunyani West District, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Ghana’s former Ambassador to Algeria, commended the newly elected executive members for their vision and appealed to all stakeholders of the Party to support them.
He said the constituencies remained the pillars of the NDC and the Party could make significant impact in Election 2020 if the constituencies were strengthened with logistics, fully furnished offices and accommodation.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo advised the supporters to remain loyal to the Party and unite to intensify the campaign for voters to understand its ideology.
He expressed optimism that with the high level of enthusiasm demonstrated by members and supporters of the Party, the Sunyani West seat, though a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), could be captured by the NDC in Election 2020.
Mr Johnson Nketiah, the Sunyani West Constituency Chairman of the NDC, thanked the Party members and national leadership for the support.
He said the NDC had 20,000 registered members in the Constituency, adding that if they remained faithful and pay their monthly dues of GH¢1.00, the Party would be able to complete the project in few months.
Mr Justice Samuel Adjei, the former Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, advised the Party members to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity towards the growth of the Party to enhance its fortunes in Election 2020.
