Accra, Aug. 20, GNA - The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Bubiashie branch, Accra, on Sunday, celebrated its 50th anniversary of propagating the gospel with a call on Christians to reassess their walk with God.
The golden jubilee anniersary was celebrated on the theme: “For God has already placed Jesus Christ as one and only foundation, and no other foundation can be laid – 1 Corinthians 3:11”.
Right Reverend Dr Seth Senyo Agidi, the Moderator of the General Assembly of EPCG, urged members to regularly reflect on their Christian lives to see if it had been pleasant to God.
Speaking on the theme for the day: “The Importance of the Lord’s Supper”, the Moderator said there was the need for Christians to use anniversaries such as the occasion, to look back and see where the Lord took them and look forward to where He was taking them.
Rt Rev Agidi said there was the need for Christians to reassess their contribution to the growth of the body of Christ, saying that, “Do not only celebrate physically but soberly assess individual ontribution to the growth of the body of Christ.
He said the moment of the Lord’s Supper is a significant event in the Church that every Christian should honour, adding that, it brought deliverance to the Christians and healed the sick of their diseases.
He called on all Christians to take part in the Lord’s Supper, anytime it was celebrated, because it was not meant for the perfect but to help in strengthening the weak as well as to bring life to the spiritually dying.
Rt Rev Agidi urged the Christendom to be fervent with evangelism by continuously sharing the word of God with all humanity so that the helpless could be helped and also partake in the Lord’s Supper.
He urged Christians to live a life worthy of emulation by humanity saying, “Every Christian must be identified in deeds as a rue son or daughter of the Lord”.
On his part, Rev Lovell S. K. Nunekpeku, the Parish Pastor of the Church, said the church had in the past 50 years done a lot for the country by training leaders, who had become very relevant.
He said the Church had been very instrumental in the community through various social interventions such as health screening, talks and other significant activities, which benefit not only the Church embers but the community at large.
Rev Nunekpeku said, the Church started a school in the area but due to lack of space, they had halted the project as the Church prepares to restart on the newly acquired land in the community.
